What’s the difference between the two sessions?

In the Wrapped Mini Collection, baby remains wrapped for the whole session and we go through a few different setups of wrapped poses in baskets/crates/fur. Newborns absolutely love being wrapped and usually sleep contently for their sessions! This is a perfect session for parents looking for just a few photos, or newborns who are older than two weeks old, or parents who just don’t love the nakey newborn poses!

Wrapped Mini Session

The Signature Collection provides more set-ups and photos than the Wrapped Mini Session, and is perfect for parents looking for more variety in their newborn images. Most importantly, this collection includes naked and blanket poses, which many parents look for.

Where will the session take place?

All newborn sessions are done at my in-home studio located in Carrollton, TX where I have a large collection of blankets, props and backdrops to use.

When should I book my newborn session?

Please try to contact me by the third trimester so I can get you on the calendar. I know birth dates are not exact, but it will give me a general idea of when the baby is expected. If I can accommodate a last minute session, I am happy to, but I can't always guarantee I will have availability as I typically book up a month or more in advance.

When will the session take place?

Newborn sessions take place when the baby is ideally less than 2 weeks old (5-12 days preferred). Timing is important here because at this age, the babies are much sleepier and flexible, and enjoy being curled up and cozy. This allows me to be able to capture those adorable shots where they are swaddled or tucked in and positioned in baskets and other props. I understand that babies' births are unpredictable, so I ask all my clients to contact me within 48 hours after birth to set a definitive date.

Do I need to bring any props or outfits?

Nope! I have a LARGE collection of props, blankets, hats, headbands, and swaddles, so you do not need to bring your own. However, if you have something specific that you would like included (a blanket, a certain stuffed animal, etc), please let me know ahead of time so I can find a way to incorporate it. Many times parents have crochet outfits that they, or a family member, has purchased, but most often the outfits are too big as they aren't from a true newborn photography vendor and getting them on can actually wake a baby, so I try to stay away from outfits.

What should I wear?

When you come for your session, dress in layers! It will be HOT (80-85 degrees) to keep baby comfortable. If you have decided to add on parent pictures plain white t-shirts/tank tops are ideal, but black or a very light gray will work too. No logos or patterns. We want to keep the focus on the baby. If dads feel comfortable, they can go shirtless for beautiful skin-to-skin photos. Your pants do not matter as they won't be in the pictures.

What should older siblings wear?

Big sisters should wear a neutral top or a neutral, plain colored dress. Big brothers should wear jeans or khakis and a nice, neutral plain shirt. No logos or patterns. We want to keep the focus on the baby.

What if my newborn gets hungry?

I always allow time for feedings. We will just pause the session and let the baby feed so he/she will fall into a nice deep sleep again.

What will happen after the session?

After your session, I will upload the images to an online proofing gallery where you will choose your favorites! I will fully edit a couple images in your gallery so you can see what your final images will look like. Your final gallery will be available 3 weeks after you've made your final image selection and prints & albums arrive 1 week later.
