Family newborn portrait in Okotoks with parents and baby.

What to Wear for a Newborn Photoshoot in Alberta (All Seasons)

Choosing outfits for your newborn photos doesn’t need to be stressful. The goal is always timeless, soft, and comfortable — no matter the season.

What photographs best

Neutral tones and simple textures photograph beautifully. Think:

  • Cream, beige, soft gray
  • Muted earth tones
  • Light layers without bold patterns

Avoid logos, bright colours, and busy prints that can distract from your baby.

Winter newborn sessions

Alberta winters are cold, but my studio is warm and cozy! Soft knits, long sleeves, and neutral layers work perfectly — without worrying about outdoor temperatures.

Spring & summer sessions

Lighter fabrics and breathable materials keep everyone comfortable. Flowing dresses and simple tops photograph beautifully in studio lighting.

What about baby?

Don’t worry — I provide everything needed for your newborn, including wraps and accessories. You don’t need to bring outfits unless you want something personal included.

Newborn photos are about connection, not perfection. Simple, neutral clothing helps keep the focus where it belongs — on your baby and your family!
