THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Why is it so hard to write about ourselves? For so long I’ve dreaded having to actually put ‘myself’ into words but here I am!
You may have noticed that I didn't include the typical "headshot" picture of myself because... that's not who I am! These pictures reflect the real me and my family.
I was born and raised in Edmonton Alberta. I lived in Dallas TX for 20 years (where I met my husband) and we now live just south of Calgary, in Okotoks Alberta.
I’ve been a photographer for over 10 years and have specialized in Newborn Portraits for the last 8. Every year I take workshops (both online and in person) to refine my skills and to update my knowledge on safely posing newborn babies. I’m certified in Newborn Safety and also Infant CPR.
Random facts:
- Prior to opening up my studio I was a Preschool Teacher and honestly love babies and toddlers!
- I lived in Germany when I was in 2nd, 3rd & 4th grade, but I don't speak german
- I watch ALL of the 90 Day Fiancee Shows (I'm a total TV Junkie)
- I listen to murder podcasts while editing sessions
- I can't drink caffeine (coffee, tea, pop) past 1pm or I'll be up all night
- My rescue dogs are named Maggie Moo and Marty McFly
THE STUDIO
Welcome to my studio! I absolutely love spending time in my studio and often call it my happy place. (I'm currently renovating my studio space)
During your newborn session, I invite you to sit back and relax in my cozy parents waiting area where you can set up camp, get comfortable and catch up on your latest binge worthy show on Netflix (you can even sneak in a quick nap, Dads!). Enjoy some snacks, coffee & tea. I even have my favorite candy to share with you - Twizzlers!
No need to bring anything to your session besides the basics (diapers, pacifier, wipes and milk) as I provide all the props, wraps, hats, and tiebacks you see in my portfolio. I’m constantly adding to my prop (addiction) collection so please let me know if there’s a certain color or set up you would like during your session!
My studio is fully licensed and insured to operate as a portrait studio..

One of the most exciting things about expecting our third child was that Dana could potentially take her newborn photographs. She accomplished the most amazing work with our second, both newborn and first birthday pictures. Rarely is it that you love every photo, but honestly, I have loved every. single. one.
Her studio is comfortable, warm and neatly stocked with every color wrap, headband and prop ready to be utilized. But what sets Dana apart is not only her super power- baby whispering, but that she is one of those people who you instantly want to consider a friend.

Her studio is set up and decorated so nicely. Love how she sends a questionnaire to get a feel of what kind of photo shoot you want. The props and swaddles she uses are all so cute!
She's also super kind and sweet! Terrific with our 2 1/2 week old.
Overall, our experience was a 10/10. Definitely recommend! :)
