If you’ve never experienced a newborn photo session before, it’s completely normal to feel unsure about what will happen — especially when you’re sleep-deprived and adjusting to life with a brand-new baby. My goal is to make your session feel calm, supportive, and far less intimidating than you might expect.
When you arrive at my studio, there is no rush. Babies need time to feed, be soothed, and settle, and that is all built into the session. If your baby needs extra cuddles or a feeding break, we take it! If they’re wide awake, that’s okay too. We take all the time we need before jumping right into the session. Nothing needs to be forced.
The studio itself is warm, quiet, and intentionally designed for newborns and new parents. Everything you need is already there — wraps, props, backdrops, and a cozy seating for parents. You don’t need to pack your entire house or worry if you forgot something. Dads have even been know to take a quick nap during the session. This is your time to relax!
Throughout the session, I gently guide you, but there’s no pressure to pose perfectly or “perform.” Some of the most meaningful images come from simply holding your baby, calming them, or leaning into quiet moments together. Those small interactions often become the photos families treasure the most.
Parents often tell me how surprised they are by how relaxed the experience feels. That’s intentional. I photograph at a slower pace so everyone can breathe. When parents feel at ease, babies respond to that calm energy.
Serving families from Calgary and welcoming them into my Okotoks studio, I focus on creating an experience that feels supportive, not stressful. You don’t need to have everything figured out — that’s what I’m here for.
