Every newborn session I photograph is guided by one core belief: your baby’s comfort and safety comes first. Safety and comfort are always more important than any pose or setup!
Newborns communicate constantly — through breathing, body language, and subtle cues. I pay close attention to these signals throughout the session so we can move at a pace that feels right for your baby. If they need a break, we pause. If they’re unsettled, we adjust. If they’re uncomfortable, we unwrap and make sure they’re happy and comfortable.
My sessions are intentionally unhurried. There is time built in for feeding, cuddling, and soothing. Nothing is forced, and no pose is ever rushed. This baby-led approach not only keeps your newborn comfortable, it also results in more natural, peaceful images.
Parents often tell me how reassuring it feels to watch their baby be handled gently and confidently. That trust matters. When parents feel safe, they relax — and that calm energy carries through the entire session.
Serving Calgary families from my Okotoks studio, I’ve designed my process to feel supportive rather than overwhelming. You don’t need to worry about how your baby will behave. My role is to adapt to them, not the other way around.
Your baby’s comfort always comes first — and it shows in every image.
